Achillea is a mainstay of the Cottage Garden, having ferny, grey-green foliage, with flat topped flower-heads. Some may consider the herbaceous border denuded without them.

The low growing forms are excellent for the rockery, whilst the taller varieties are more suited to the herbaceous border.

These drought resisting Yarrows quickly form clumps that are suited to most soil types, including chalky and gravelly soils, and produce flower heads in a wide range of colours that attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects, and are therefore suitable for wildlife gardens

The flower heads can be dried for indoor decoration.

Achillea is a good all round plant that many underestimate because of its more subtle nature.

Contact with the skin may aggravate skin allergies.
