Herbaceous Perennials and Annuals

Aethionema spicatum

Aethionema thomasianum

Aethionema is comprised of a group of clump forming annual and evergreen / semi-evergreen perennials that produce clusters of flowers that come in cheerful shades of red, pink, creamy-white and pure white. The flowers are produced on short stems from spring through to early summer.

These woody based perennials tend to be short lived, and it is best to renew plants from cuttings every two or three years to maintain vigour.

Being petite plants they are well suited to the front of the border or for growing in a rockery or alpine garden.
