Agapanthus prefer fertile, moist, well drained soils, in full sun. In cold areas they should be given a thick mulch of well rotted compost.

Container grown plants should be grown in a fertile loam based compost, and watered freely during the summer (sparingly during the winter).

Plants should be fed with a balanced fertiliser until flowering commences

Propagation: -

Divide large clumps in spring; or

Sow seed when ripe or in early spring. Keep seedlings in a a frost-free cold frame during their first winter.

Seedlings generally do not come true to type, thus if you are looking for a particular cultivar, it will have to be obtained from a grower or garden-centre
