Cultivation: -

Growing Instructions: Transplant when large enough to handle into 3in (7.5cm) pots to minimise root disturbance and grow on in cooler conditions. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 12in (30cm) apart.

Grow in sharply drained but moist soil in full sun.

Propagation: -

Sowing Instructions for Arctotis Jaffa Ice: Sow from late winter to early summer 1/8 in (3mm) deep in a good seed compost, making sure it is moist but not wet. Seal in a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 14-21 days at 60-65oF (15-18oC).

Sowing Instructions for Arctotis T&M Hybrids: Sow during early spring in a good seed compost just covering the seed with compost and gently firm down, Sealing in a polythene bag after sowing is helpful. Germination usually takes 21-35 days at 60-70oF (16-21oC).

Root stem cuttings at any time ~ It is the only way to propagate particularly fine specimens since seed does not always come true.

Perennial species can be dug up and over-wintered in the cool conservatory or greenhouse at above 5oC
