Asphodelus are a genus of spring or summer flowering perennials closely related to Asphodeline. They are mostly frost hardy, to half hardy, and thrive in fertile, well-drained soil, in full sun.

Foliage:  Basal rosettes of upright, then spreading, grass-like, mid-green, leaves
Flowers: In late spring producing stems carrying dense panicles of white, star-shaped, flowers.

Flowers: In late spring and early summer, producing stems bearing clusters of star-shaped white flowers 

Sowing Instructions: Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 55-65oF (13-18oC). Sow in well drained compost, just covering the seed with compost, but do not exclude light, which is beneficial to germination. Sow February-May. Germination usually takes 30-90 days.

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 3in (7.5cm) pots. Harden off and plant out when all risk of frost has passed 12in (30cm) apart in full sun or part shade.

Prefers a well drained soil. Move to a cold frame and as roots begin to fill the pot plant in their final positions 12in (30cm) apart in free draining soil and full sun.

Cultivation: -

Grow in well drained, fertile soil, in full sun.   

Propagation: -

Sow seed in the cold-frame during spring. Asphodelus. fistulosis, is generally grown as an annual, and needs to be raised from seed every year.

Divide plants in late summer or early autumn being careful not to damage roots.
