A genus of Summer flowering perennials grown for their flowers.

False Indigo, is a vigorous, clump-forming perennial which produces tall, lupin-like, spires of Royal-Blue, Purple, or White pea-like flowers during early Summer, followed by large puffy seed-pods that last well into Autumn.

Cultivation: -

Grow in full sun, in a well drained soil. Choose the site with care as the plants resent being disturbed once established.

Propagation: -

Sow seed in pots in the cold frame as soon as ripe. 


Seed is sown in pots to avoid root disturbance at planting time. Plants can be divided with care during early Spring, to remove smaller sections for propagation purposes, whilst trying to keep the original rootball as large and intact as possible.
