Begonia

Rhizomatous Begonias are variable, mostly evergreen perennials grown mostly for their foliage and small single flowers. The leaves are
  smooth, crested or puckered, and occasionally twisted, leaves are green or brown and 3-12in (8-30cm) long, and often having silver marking. The creeping cultivars are more freely branching than the upright cultivars and more suited to use in hanging baskets.

Cultivation: -

Rhizomatous Begonias prefer to be grown in well-drained soil and should only be watered very sparingly. In cool climates they should be grown under glass, and all should be provided with a partially shaded position.

 

Propagation: -

Sow seed in late Winter or early Spring at 70oF (21oC)

Take stem tip or leaf cuttings in Spring or Summer.

Rhizomes may be divided in Spring.

 

Frost Tender

Minimum temperatures should be 55-59oF (13-15oC), but prefers to grow in temperatures of around 66oF (19oC) with 40-75% relative humidity.

Pests & Diseases: -

Susceptible to powdery mildew and botrytis if the leaves get wet.
