Eryngium agavifolium

Eryngium agavifolium

A genus of biennials and perennials, some of which are evergreen, grown for their flowers, striking foliage and habit. Eryngium are half to fully hardy. They thrive in fertile well drained soil in a sunny location.

Flowers: In summer producing thistle-like, greenish-white flower heads on branched stems.

Spread: 2ft (60cm)
Leaves: Having basal rosettes of heart-shaped, deeply-toothed, glossy foliage.
Flowers: In summer stout stems of conical purplish-blue flower heads, surrounded by blue bracts and soft spines are produced

Leaves: Having divided, oval, spiny, mid-green leaves.

Leaves: Having deeply-cut, grey-green leaves.
Flowers: From mid to late-summer producing heads of thistle-like, blue-green, then lilac-blue flowers on branched wiry stems.

Leaves: Has arching spiny grass like leaves
Flowers: In late summer producing heads of thistle-like green flowers with white stamens on branching stems.

Form: A clump forming monocarpic perennial ~ That is to say the plant flowers once after two to three years and then dies. 
Height: 3-4ft (1-1.2m)
Spread: 2.5ft (75cm)
Leaves: Having heart shaped, mid-green basal leaves.
Summer: In late summer producing large, rounded heads of thistle like, blue flowers, surrounded by broad spiny, silvery bracts.

May be cut and used in dried flower arrangements
