Cultivation: -

Grow in any reasonably fertile, moist but well-drained garden soil. Geum. rivale cultivars require more moisture and plenty of organic material. All Geums resent waterlogged soil.

Propagation: -

Sow from Spring to Autumn in good seed compost, just covering the seed with compost or Sow-lite (Vermiculite). Germination takes 30-90 days at 65-70oF (18-20oC). Sealing the seed tray inside a polythene bag after sowing until seeds germinate is helpful.

Blazing Sunset, Lady Stratheden and Mrs J Bradshaw generally come true from commercially produced seed, however, the seed from plants grown in the garden is likely to produce unpredictable progeny due to cross pollination.

To ensure the propagation of identical plants divide clumps of cultivars during Spring or Autumn.
