The
name Shiraz was chosen for this site because it is both the name of a
variety of grape vine that we can grow in our gardens, and a type wine,
which appeals to the discerning palate. You do not have to be an
unabandoned worshipper of Bacchus to appreciate the convergence of two
areas of pleasure and relaxation to be found by winding down in your
garden with a glass of wine after a gruelling day at the office.
What
could be more satisfying than
coming home towards the end of a beautiful Summer's day, retiring to the garden with a
cool drink and enjoying your own private refuge from the everyday pressures of
life.
No therapist can ever beat the contentment to be derived from communing
with Gaia (Mother Nature).
Just laying back and closing your mind to anything but the
melodies of birdsong and bees buzzing to a background of running water,
whilst a chorus of crickets and frogs are just warming up for the evening
serenade cannot be surpassed.
It is during the late afternoon and evening when the perfume of your
flowers will be at its best, and in the softer light before dusk that
the true
luminous beauty
of your flowers will be revealed.
This little piece of heaven on earth is yours to appreciate to its
fullest.
The more we put into making our gardens grow and
flourish, the more we are rewarded for our efforts. Not simply by creating
a living tapestry worthy of admiration, but through the spiritual
rewards we obtain from the fruits of our efforts. This site is
dedicated to providing as much information about plants and gardening as
possible. Of course it will take time to develop the site fully, but
hopefully it will be worth the effort.
